Intense What And Automattic Who?

We have been seeing everywhere, well, at least I have, about a big IntenseDebate and Automattic Merge.  I have just been blowing it off because I didn’t know what the heck was, and thought it meant nothing to me.  Then I got to thinking, “Well, I have this Wordpress Site…And if OTHER Wordpress users are talking about it, then, well, maybe it holds SOME relevance.”  Ok, well, it does.  To some extent, I think.

Apparently, the two companies have merged - IntenseDebate has become a part of Automattic.  Mmmm, ok…?  Looking into what the heck is anyhow, it is an improved comment system for blogs.  Automattic has many projects that they are “involved with”: Wordpress.com, Askimet, Wordpress.org, bbPress, WordCamp San Fricisco, and many, many plugins, that you can view HERE.

There are many features that IntenseDebate boasts:

  • Comment Threading
  • Reply By Email
  • Importing Of Comments
  • RSS
  • Twitter Integration
  • Moderation and Blacklisting
  • Different Widgets
  • Reputation Points And Comment Voting

They also say that there will be tighter integration with some of their projects, Gravatar and Askimet.

It sounds almost like another SezWho, if you ask me, but I, to this DAY, have never gotten that to work and all it does has slowed down any blog I ever try to put it on.  Maybe this has some promise.

HERE they state that, even though the two have merged, it is usable “…on Typepad, Tumblr, Blogger, Movable Type, and other platforms with more to come!”.  Well, for such a big thing, it doesn’t list Wordpress, either .com OR .org.  Or is that a given that I don’t know about?

But since, they have merged, and IntenseDebate makes no mention of Wordpress, but Automattic, on their site, does - is it integrateable with Wordpress since the merge?  And what exactly will the merge bring?

It will be interesting to find out - I love plugins, integrations, and the like.  If you have some information, and know more than I do, leave a comment and let us know, it would be greatly appreciated.

hey,

Jitendra from SezWho here.

Sorry to hear about you bad experience with SezWho.
We have addressed all the performance issues over the last couple of months.

The key difference between SezWho and ID is that with SezWho you data stays on your site in you db since SezWho does not add manage content.

Let me know if I can help.

thanks, Jitendra

Hey there, Jitendra. I really appreciate your comment. And in no way did I mean to slam SezWho, please don’t take it as that. I was really excited about the Entrecard/SezWho integration, but I think that is what the problem was - the integration. With a couple other sites, I signed up for SezWho through Entrecard, but never got the email that I was supposed to get, I guess to complete the registration. Entrecard never recognized my SezWho account, and on SezWho, the only option to find was to create an account through the SezWho website, but the keys never matched the info that Entrecard had. Something along those lines, I’m sorry, it was a long time ago. I sent quite a few emails to SezWho asking for help, asking for what I could do to have the two integrated and how to resolve the situation, to this day I have never got a response. If all of the performance issues have been corrected, i.e. the slowing down of the blog, etc, I would still love to give it a chance, if I can guarantee that the two will be properly integrated and Entrecard will recognize my SezWho account and vice versa. What is your take on all this. Like I said, I love the rating system idea, but just don’t know what to think about it.

Thanks again for stopping by!

Hey Brandi,
ID has a Wordpress plugin.

Most people I speak with prefer the design of ID over the others. There are many things you can do with it as well. It is invite only as the backend ramps up.

Cheers.
